Our Mission

Building Equitable Action Together (BEAT) is a volunteer-led nonprofit organization dedicated to affordable housing, economic empowerment and equitable community development. We support policies and initiatives that help families thrive.

Our Vision

Residents of color and low-income residents are no longer displaced as a result of public or private investment. Through collective action, low-income and residents of color have the power to effectively engage in community planning and policy development. All residents are respected and each community's unique history and culture is acknowledged. Our approach is a national model of trauma-informed, equitable development.

Our Impact

The affordable homes we build help low and moderate-income families remain in their communities. The blighted and vacant lots we convert into safe, clean spaces promotes artistic, entrepreneurial and cultural activities. Financial literacy and education result in qualified, first-time home buyers and small business owners equipped with the tools and skills to build wealth.
